Hi, I'm Joe! I qualified from the University of Nottingham in 2020 and have worked at Medivet Chorley since October 2021. I have a passion for surgery, and can perform both advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures. I am also doing a further qualification in small animal surgery. In my spare time I enjoy watching sports, going to the gym, and long walks with my Border Collie Storm.

After completing my post graduate degree in Veterinary Medicine from Kerala, India, I moved to U.K. and received my MRCVS in 2005. Since then I have been working as a small animal vet initially in Birmingham, then in the North West and finally settled in Medivet Chorley in 2018. I enjoy all aspects of small animal work with interest in both medicine and surgery equally. Outside of work, I enjoy fell walking, gardening, a bit of baking, watching movies and spending time with my family and friends . I grew up with lots of animals back home in India. Currently, I have some beautiful Koi carps in my garden pond, but over the years, I had two beloved cats; Kitkat and Caramel and some beautiful canaries and finches too. I believe in the strong bond between human and animal and by helping an animal, helping a human too.

Hi I’m Alison. I qualified as a vet from Glasgow University in 1991. I started in mixed practice at Hillcrest Chorley at the old Eaves Lane site! I then did a residency in feline medicine and a PhD in feline respiratory disease at Liverpool University before returning to general practice. I have spent most of my working life in veterinary practice in the North-West except for a couple of years in the pharmaceutical industry and a short period working in Australia. I returned to the Chorley practice in August 2023 where I work part-time. My particular areas of interest are internal medicine and feline shelter medicine. In my spare time I am a trustee and vet for Woodlands Animal Sanctuary, a charity in Holmeswood, Lancashire which focusses on cat rescue; I also enjoy gardening and spending time with my family and elderly Border Terrier!

Night Veterinary Surgeon

Hi, I'm Lucy and I'm one of the night vets at Chorley Medivet. I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2021 and have been working in small animal practice since. My favourite part of the job is seeing patients that I've cared for go home to their owners after being unwell. Outside of work I enjoy hiking with my 2 dogs and rock climbing.

My name is Jenny. I am one of the night vets here at Medivet Chorley. I have worked in small animal practice for almost 9 years now, and been in emergency and critical care for the last year. I have a particular interest in surgery and have a drive to deliver the best care we can to every patient. Outside of work you'll find me playing sport, usually football, and travelling, I love to explore new places.

Sadly my experience at this practise was really poor - most of the staff were unfriendly/rude at times, and some were completely incoherent. I don’t often write reviews but I knew I had to share my experience here as I wouldn’t want to anyone else to choose to come here and receive the same treatment that we have. My dog started experiencing signs of pain, and was being sick which prompted us to take him into the vets to be checked over. At his registered practice, they were immediately as concerned as we were and they suspected that he’s maybe eaten something he shouldn’t, which was causing a blockage in his abdomen. They said this could be really serious, and fatal, if not quickly treated and removed. Sadly, at Bamber bridge, they wouldn’t have had the same surgical facilities in place like Chorley’s practise do, so they sent us to Chorley and told them it was an emergency and that I’d be with them in 10/15 mins. As they will likely need to operate. After finally being seen after about 30 mins, I was told that he would have to have an xray to confirm the suspicions of a blockage and then they could operate on him. I was told the vet was currently in theatre and that they’d only be in there for an hour so I should go home and leave my dog with them. I was really keen to stress the fact that I’ve been told this could be fatal at my registered veterinary practise, but the member of staff told me that whilst this was the case, other, more serious emergencies could come through the door so it could take longer than expected to get him in - which I understood - so I left my dog with them, and went home to wait for a call. 5 hours later, I rang them to check to see if he had gone in, only to be told that he wasn’t an emergency and they had a few other emergency appointments they needed to deal with first. Each hour after this call, I rang them asking for updates on him. Each time I pretty much spoke to a different member of staff, and more than once was told, ‘sorry I don’t know as I’ve just started my shift’ essentially telling me they can’t help me or provide me with any usual information. They then reassured me that he’d be seen ‘within the next hour’ - luckily this time, they then got round to X-raying him and called me back to tell me that indeed we were right, a large mass or blockage had been found in his abdomen and he’d immediately have to go into surgery to avoid gas building up in his intestines resulting in a potential rupture, which could again, be fatal. I gave immediate go ahead for the (ex-lap) and I was told I’d get a call back as soon as he was out of surgery. At this point it was around midnight when he went in. I couldn’t sleep and hadn’t slept and didn’t receive a call when he was out of surgery, so spent the whole time worrying and was wide awake waiting for this call. My dad then rang to see what the hold up was only to be told that he was fine and had already come out of surgery. Yet I wouldn’t have known if he we hadn’t have chased them yet again. Naturally he wasn’t in a good condition after that major surgery the following morning, but was left waiting in a room for another unfriendly member of staff to discharge him - I was in that room for about 40 minutes in total, if not longer, spent waiting for her to come back at different points. I wasn’t given a collar or recovery suit by this vet nurse either upon discharge and when handed the very expensive bill at the reception desk, I was told that they were at least one month behind on submitting insurance claims so weren’t even able to do this one thing for me in good time after the awful experience we had had with them, as apparently management weren’t giving them enough time to process insurance claims for their patients. This needs to change. The experience I had there was totally unacceptable and cold, I would not recommend this practise to anyone looking to go and can only hope that this feedback is looked into and actually acted upon so that nobody else had to experience the same.

We went out of hours on Saturday evening. They nurse on duty took us in straight away. She was friendly and professional. She examined our cat. We opted for blood tests and a steroid injection. Even though she did advise us our cat was very sick (thought to have bone lukemia). Unfortunately, she passed away Sunday morning.

Generally we have a great experience with the vets when we go. The actually care of our animals is excellent that the vets have been nothing but amazing. The main issue we have had recently is the delays at the front desk. There were long lines and very long waits for medications. We are happy to wait but it kind of sounded like a couple of staff members were having a long drawn out conversation while we were waiting. Another person in the queue mentioned that they had waited for nearly 30 minutes before leaving and returning.
