What is a referral?

Advanced veterinary advice or care is needed depending on the case
Your primary vet decides they’re not able to offer the right level of expertise, or they don’t have the appropriate facilities at the general practice.

Your veterinary surgeon makes a referral to our centre
Your primary vet will recommend that your pet be seen by a specialist consultant, or a vet who has undertaken additional training to provide an advanced clinical service, at a referral centre.

My cavalier had a sudden episode that presented like a stroke and we needed to know what was going on quickly. I asked her to be referred to dogwood and they have been amazing quick appointment for the mri and staff kept us informed as we were on holiday. The staff were caring and friendly and took amazing care of our dog. Would highly recommend. Thanks dogwood

Excellent service last February 2024 when my dog had a hip replacement and again today July 2025 with Tom who was excellent. He did a thorough examination and then explained everything to me well. The staff are all lovely as well.

Medivet Dogwood is a amazing vetinary surgery, although our vist was not quite the outcome we expected the staff were brilliant. Tom the vet that looked after Louis our beloved french bulldog was exceptionally helpful, he explained the whole procedure with all the outcomes in as best detail that he could. Many thanks to all involved.

Excellent vets, we went yesterday with our dog to find out what is causing her to limp and she has a CT scan. Tom was absolutely amazing and caring to both my dog and myself, he discussed everything in detail so I understood everything and had a plan together for her recovery. All the staff were amazing, very helpful and friendly. So pleased we went and so lucky to have them on our doorstep. Thank you again from me and Mabel

I can’t rate Dogwood highly enough. My dog has had 2 cruciate repairs done with them and they have done an amazing job both times. I have found them to be highly professional and compassionate and thankfully pupper has made a great recovery. Thank you so much to all of you 😊
